According to new information shared online, it seems like Activision and Toys For Bob are bringing the recently released Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time to the Nintendo Switch — which has actually been rumoured more than once in the past.
This information comes from YouTube channel Canadian Guy Eh, in which it has been revealed that a user dove into the INI file for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time and found that there is a Nintendo Switch profile. For those who may not be aware, INI files are basically setting files that allow developers to change aspects of their game.
Here's where things get even more interesting, as the INI file shows that there are numerous instances, within the game's source code, in which files have been copied from Spyro: Reignited Trilogy's project name "Falcon" — suggesting that optimisation code was borrowed from Toys For Bob's work on the Nintendo Switch port of Spryo: Reignited Trilogy.
If this were the case, and Toys For Bob is using the same code for the Nintendo Switch version of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, more information found within the INI file could potentially reveal that the game will run at 720p at 60FPS in docked mode; exactly like Spyro: Reignited Trilogy on Nintendo Switch.
A Nintendo Switch port of the game was also accidentally leaked by Activision themselves, but the developer has not confirmed nor denied that Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will be releasing on Nintendo's popular handheld hybrid console; all evidence seems to suggest that this is the case, we just don't know when.
Picking up where the original trilogy left off, Neo Cortex and DR. Nefarious Tropy have escaped their interdimensional prison and in doing so have fractured the boundaries of time and space. It's up to Crash and Coco to save the day.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is currently available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
