Capcom as a company has had one of the best years in its history in 2019 with the reimagined version of
Resident Evil 2 being not only one of the best-reviewed games of the year, but also a best-selling one, with over 4 million units sold within its first month since launch. Considering that
Devil May Cry V hits stores this Friday, there's a chance that the company will enjoy a nice, healthy profit this year.
While it's hard to tell what Capcom is working on (well, the studio is reportedly developing a
Resident Evil 3 remake and full-blown
Resident Evil VIII simultaneously),
Dragon's Dogma 2 may be in the works.
In a recent interview with Eurogamer,
Devil May Cry V Director Hideaki Itsuno said "
I've mentioned this before, but when we started Devil May Cry V, I'd gone to the people up top and said let me make either Devil May Cry V or Dragon's Dogma 2," he explained.
"I thought Devil May Cry V would be the better choice right now, so did that. If I could, I'd love to make Dragon's Dogma 2 - it'd be awesome."
Given that Itsuno has expressed his interest in making
Dragon's Dogma 2 on numerous occasions and had a plan for the sequel’s story in 2013, it sounds like his big dream will finally come true. As a reminder, the original game's enhanced edition, titled
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, will be available for Nintendo Switch on April 23rd with many technical improvements and some brand new content.
Set in a huge open world, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen presents a rewarding action combat experience. Players embark on an epic adventure in a rich, living world with three AI companions, known as Pawns. These partners fight independently, demonstrating prowess and ability that they have developed based on traits learned from each player. PC users can share these Pawns online and reap rewards of treasure, tips and strategy hints for taking down the terrifying enemies. Pawns can also be borrowed when specific skills are needed to complete various challenging quests.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows; coming to Nintendo Switch on April 23, 2019.
