Dying Light launched all the way back in 2015 but Techland continues to support it to this day. Its sequel will be releasing in Spring and the developer recently
confirmed that they would similarly support Dying Light 2 for as long as they have its predecessor.
Yesterday, Techland announced an exciting, new crossover event for Dying Light which sees the open-world zombie game meet
Left 4 Dead 2. The zombie sequel initially debuted back in 2009 and was developed by Valve — the same minds behind the likes of
Portal,
Half Life, and Steam itself.
We didn't know exactly what the new content would be until Techland released a trailer earlier today which shows off what
"Dying Light X Left 4 Dead 2" is all about. There's some iconic weapons from the Valve game such as the frying pan, golf club, and electric guitar. Weapons are more plentiful than they've ever been and so are virals.
All in all, Techland are attempting to recreate the feeling of
Left 4 Dead 2's survival. This was explained by the studio themselves in the description of the trailer — which you can check out below along with the trailer itself.
Survivors, we have something truly special for you – two infected worlds collide and you will be in the thick of it. As a homage to Valve’s magnificent co-op zombie shooter, we brought Left 4 Dead 2 into Dying Light in an exciting crossover event!
To recreate the memorable feel of L4D2 in our game, we’ve introduced some gameplay tweaks. Expect a lot of Virals, whose numbers we’ve increased to push the attacking hordes into overdrive and intensify your fight for survival as you face waves of infected coming for you. To even out the odds and shift combat towards Valve-esque territory, we’re also more generous with guns and ammo for you to find.
We’re sure you’re gonna love what comes next! The icing on the cake is the inclusion of three iconic Left 4 Dead 2 melee weapons: Electric Guitar, Frying Pan, and Golf Club. You will find the blueprints in the free DLC, but the most badass variants (orange and gold) are available as rewards for completing challenges and three special Bounties during the event. Go get these toys and have fun delivering crushing riffs, serving killer dishes, and improving your golf swings!
Dying Light 2 is set to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring 2020.
