Earlier this month, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix announced Marvel's Avengers won't be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later this year but rather next year — find out more on that here.

Marvel's Avengers allows you to play as your favorite Marvel Comics superheroes, from Captain America to Ms. Marvel. However, the roster only includes six characters at the moment. Crystal Dynamics has promised and teased that more will be added in the future, including Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and more.

Notably, Spider-Man will be coming to Marvel's Avengers at some point. When exactly? Well, that's what PlayStation Official Magazine UK seems to have revealed. The newest issue of the official publication features a segment that mentions that Spider-Man will be arriving in January. Can't get more outright than that.

However, what makes this reveal questionable is that there wasn't any big announcement nor buzz surrounding it. This doesn't seem like the way that Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix would reveal when this major character is coming to the game. Additionally, this could be a misprint of some sort or based on outdated information.

Only time will tell. There's always a chance that this information managed to slip through the cracks, though it should definitely be treated as a rumor more than confirmation — since it is by no means the latter.

For clarity's sake, it's worth mentioning that this has nothing to do with Marvel's Spider-Man developed by Insomniac Games nor the upcoming follow-up to that game, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Moralesbut you can find out more about that here nonetheless.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's Avengers is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC — and will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
