In 2013, Square Enix rebooted the popular Tom Raider series, capturing the interest of longtime fans and newcomers equally. Among the many elements of the reboot that received a lot of praise was the grittier story and the star who brought the revamped Lara Croft to life, Camilla Luddington.
Now, following the immense success of the 2013 reboot, Luddington will complete her third turn at portraying the video game icon when Shadow of the Tom Raider releases this year. And with this game being the final entry in a new trilogy of Tom Raider games, many have begun to wonder about the actress’ future as Lara.
Thankfully, Luddington took part in an interview with Variety where she revealed her stance on the possibility of continuing as the iconic hero beyond the installment coming this September.
“That’s a hard question. There is a part of me that, with the way the trilogy ends, can imagine sitting back and being so proud, and I could feel my work is done with her.”
Of course, this is in no way confirmation that the star won’t reprise the role for more games, but it certainly reveals she is happy with the work she has done so far and would be okay with stepping away from the franchise.
