Shadow of the Tomb Raider was officially announced last month and we learned some juicy details about the next Lara Croft's journey during the special event that shed new light at the upcoming game. Just like the previous two games in the rebooted series, Lara's next adventure in
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is going to be a dark and gritty one as Ms. Croft will take an even darker, almost villainous turn.
According to Game Director Daniel Chayer-Bisson,
Shadow will be the most difficult game in the history of the franchise. "
This will be, I would say, the most difficult Tomb Raider of all the Tomb Raiders," Chayer-Bisson explained in a recent interview with Edge Magazine. "
That is important because this is a more experienced Lara. This is going to be bigger, it’s going to be harder, and that tomb shows the first ever puzzle you’ll solve and it’s very difficult. The checkpoints are not far away from when you die, so having these gruesome deaths make you feel bad to fail, and do everything to stay alive."
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is being developed by Eidos Montreal (which acquired Crystal Dynamics in 1998), the creators of the last two
Deus Ex games (
Human Revolution &
Mankind Divided) and the recent
Thief reboot, in collaboration with the original developer. It will be definitely interesting to see if the team's lessons learned from
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will affect the next adventure of Lara Croft.
Experience Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will ultimately be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 14th.
