Players have know — for quite some time, actually — that SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated would be featuring an all-new multiplayer mode, but THQ Nordic has only mentioned this but not really given us any information about it.
For those unfamiliar with the original SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, the game did not feature a multiplayer mode at all, so this is actually one of the aspects fans of the original have been the most curious about when the Rehydrated remake was announced.
Today THQ Nordic has finally shared a new gameplay trailer that introduces players to the game's multiplayer mode, while also revealing some details about what this mode will be including.
As per the developers' description this all-new multiplayer mode allows players to be joined with one friend either online or in couch co-op, and battle waves of enemies in order to eventually defeat Robo-Squidward.
THQ Nordic also reveals that SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated's multiplayer mode will feature a grand total of 26 islands for players to defeat enemies, and will also be able to choose up to 7 different playable characters from the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon; each with different, and unique attacks.
