Aspyr announced today that with the help of Lucasfilm Games they will be re-releasing the original Star Wars: Bounty Hunter game on modern platforms.

Set to arrive on August 1, 2024, for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC (via Steam), the game will feature visual enhancements, improved environmental textures, new dynamic lighting effects, and a new flashlight tool for navigating dark places.

For those unfamiliar with the original 2002 release, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is an action-adventure game that puts you in the armor of former Mandalorian warrior Jango Fett during his prime as a bounty hunter. Set in the Star Wars Legends expanded universe, the game is a prequel to the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, and a continuation of the comic book Jango Fett: Open Season. It provides backstory to the character's role in Attack of the Clones and explains several elements from the film, such as how he acquired his iconic ship and met his future partner Zam Wesell.

Aspyr also shared some key features of the upcoming re-release:

  • Let the Hunt Begin: In this classic third-person action-adventure, you'll play as Jango Fett, Prime Clone of the Grand Army of the Republic, hired to capture a deranged Dark Jedi.
  • Relive the Timeless Tale: Experience the legendary Bounty Hunter fantasy set before the events of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones™. Face off against foes and maneuver through acrobatic battles in this adaption optimized for today's consoles and hardware.
  • Armed to the Teeth: Fight your way through the galaxy’s underbelly, equipped with Dual Blasters, your Flamethrower, Whipcord, and pure Mandalorian Rage.

In addition to the improved visuals, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter will also give players the option to suit up as Boba Fett. Once the campaign is completed, players can unlock a new Boba Fett skin for the next playthrough, which actually pays off a notorious easter egg from the original game.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is set to arrive on August 1 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It's priced at $19.99 and available for pre-order starting today (with a 10% discount being offered until the official launch).

The original Star Wars: Bounty Hunter released in 2002 for GameCube and PlayStation 2. It was later released as a PS2 Classics title on PlayStation 4, although this marks the game's first full remaster. The original game received fairly positive reviews, including praise for its graphics and combat mechanics.
