Fans of the Streets of Rage series, like myself, are probably counting the days until the latest entry in the long-running beat 'em up series, Streets of Rage 4, finally becomes available next Thursday.
The developers at Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Lizardcube have done their best to keep all of the elements that made the original games cult classics, and every trailer they have released for Streets of Rage 4 is solid proof of that; they've respected the source material and have even added new elements to the upcoming title.
From the get-go, the first thing that stands out about Streets of Rage 4 is it's phenomenal hand-drawn art style. The music in the new game has also been heavily inspired by the previous titles, while giving it a slightly more modern feel to it.
Of course, the most important aspect in a Streets of Rage game is its gameplay, and the developers have also nailed this aspect in its entirety, and the clip they've uploaded today keeps making us excited to finally get our hands on Streets of Rage 4; this time focusing on series' main protagonist Axel Stone.
Take a look:
Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.
Streets of Rage 4 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam) on the 30th of April.
