SUICIDE SQUAD: KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE Is Ending Post-Launch Support This Month

With the release of Episode 8 on January 14th, Rocksteady Studios will officially stop releasing post-launch content for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the failed co-op action-adventure game.

With the upcoming release of Episode 8 later this month, Rocksteady Studios will cease post-launch support for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. As announced last month, Season 4 will conclude with the release of Episode 8 on January 14, 2025, and will serve as the last seasonal/episodic content update for the game.

It's worth noting that while Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will no longer receive any new seasonal content, all online features will remain available. This means you'll still be able to play online and enjoy co-op with friends. Additionally, all previously released content will remain available.

The latest update also introduced Offline mode. For those who prefer playing solo, you can now experience the entire game, including the main story campaign and all seasonal story mission content without an internet connection.

Season 4 Episode 8 marks the final battle against Brainiac and will hopefully wrap up any loose ends with the story. The previous episode introduced Deathstroke as the last playable character. The game currently boasts a lineup of characters that include Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, the Joker, Mrs. Freeze, Lawless, and now Deathstroke. Each character has their own unique moveset, melee combat style, and traversal method.

A master strategist, swordsman, and sharpshooter, Deathstroke is capable of engaging in combat in a number of ways and boasts three distinct playstyles: Assassin, Mercenary, and Strategist. Playing as an Assassin turns him into the ultimate duelist, boosting the power of his Melee Strikes, Shield Harvesting, and Suicide Strikes. Mercenary amps up his Firearms, Grenades, and Traversal Attacks. Strategist is more about weakening and afflicting enemies before going in for the final death blow.

It's unfortunate to see Rocksteady giving up on post-launch support for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but not unexpected. Despite all the ingredients needed to be a blockbuster action-adventure, the game failed to live up to the lofty expectations. It failed both critically and commercially with Warner Bros. Games acknowledging it did not meet the publisher's sales expectations.

Reviewers weren't overly harsh — as it sits at a mixed "60%" on Metacritic — but the game was criticized for its live service elements and repetitive gameplay. Those who did play it mostly praised the campaign's story and gameplay mechanics, although reviews acknowledged it brought nothing new to the genre.

Post-launch support ends as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was recently announced as part of PlayStation's January lineup for PS Plus giveaways. It will be free for all PS Plus members from January 7th through February 3rd.
