Recently, the hit video game, Assassin's Creed Odyssey introduced a new mode known as Story Creator where players can build their own custom missions. However, fans have been using this mode to create missions designed for easy XP farming, and Ubisoft has taken notice.
To combat this issue, the developer has taken steps to end XP farming within this new mode. According to the studio, it has chosen to go down this route to maintain the integrity of Story Creator. Not only that, the company wants to keep missions designed specifically for XP farming from drowning out other stories in the community.
"Story Creator Mode was designed to be a tool for players to let their creativity and imagination run free as they build their very own Stories to share with others, using a modified version of the tools our own designers used to develop the quests in the game," according to the update. "These exploits risk jeopardizing the overall quality, integrity, and purpose of Story Creator Mode and results in less visibility for the creative, interesting and frankly fantastic community stories that have been published."
Only time will tell if Ubisoft will be able to prevent XP farming altogether, because we doubt it'll be an easy task no matter the measures implemented. Let's hope the studio never choose to ban players, for that would put them and the game in a bad light.
Having that type of PR is not on the cards, surely, but anything is possible in the video game industry these days as several studios have shown they only care about making money.
