In case you've been living under a rock for the past few days, last week Ubisoft unveiled the latest entry in their long-running, and critically acclaimed Assassin's Creed series; revealing that this game would be set during the Viking Age, and would see players taking the role of Viking warrior Eivor.

The announcement trailer Assassin's Creed Valhalla was very well received by fans of the series, but some could definitely see some similarities with God of War; particularly the 2018 game, which is also set in the Viking Age.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Creative Director Darby McDevitt addressed these concerns about both games being similar. While they both are set during the Viking Age, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and God of War are too completely different games. McDevitt goes even further, stating that their game is "the ultimate grounded Viking fantasy."

McDevitt wasn't the only one to address this "issue," as God of War director Cory Barlog reveals on his personal Twitter account that "no one should be worried" about the games being compared with each other — while also revealing that he's actually "VERY excited to play Assassin's Creed Valhalla when it comes out."

From the get-go, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and God of War are two completely different games. Sure, they may look similar, but God of War is a bit more linear title than any of the games in the Assassin's Creed series, and Valhalla will also give players an open world to explore.

Even if both games were similar from a gameplay standpoint, this would still be great news for players, since God of War is a phenomenal game in its own right, and players simply can't get enough of it. Regardless, it is nice to see Barlog being this supportive and excited for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

In Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla, you are Eivor, a fierce Viking warrior raised on tales of battle and glory. Explore a dynamic and beautiful open world set against the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages. Raid your enemies, grow your settlement, and build your political power in your quest to earn your place among the gods in Valhalla.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is expected to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Stadia this Holiday.
