Ubisoft is preparing to officially reveal the long-rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, according to multiple reports. The announcement for the project, internally codenamed Resynced, is currently scheduled for April 16, 2026, likely through a dedicated trailer or digital showcase.

The news comes from ResetERA user BlackBate and has been echoed by Insider Gaming, which previously reported that the reveal had been planned for mid-April. While Ubisoft has not yet confirmed the date, the alignment of multiple sources suggests the studio is ready to show the first footage of the revived pirate adventure.

Internal documents indicate the game is targeting a release in Fiscal Year 2027 Q2 (June to August 2026), with some sources pointing toward a July launch. However, Ubisoft’s recent history of delays and project cancellations means any specific date should be viewed cautiously until officially confirmed.

Black Flag Resynced is positioned as one of Ubisoft’s two major releases for the current fiscal year, alongside a new mainline Ghost Recon title scheduled for later in the year. The publisher is counting on these titles to help stabilize its financial performance following several challenging quarters and ongoing cost-cutting measures.

While gameplay details remain under wraps, the project is expected to be a full remake rather than a simple remaster. Fans hope it will retain the open-world naval exploration, ship combat, and pirate fantasy that made the 2013 original a standout entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, while modernizing visuals, controls, and technical performance for current-generation hardware.

The original Black Flag was widely praised for its seamless blend of land and sea gameplay, charismatic characters like Edward Kenway, and the freedom to sail the Caribbean as a pirate. A successful remake could reintroduce the game to a new generation while giving longtime fans a polished return to one of the series’ most beloved settings.

The announcement comes at a complicated time for Ubisoft. The company has been undergoing significant restructuring, with reports of potential further layoffs across its studios in the coming years. Black Flag Resynced and the upcoming Ghost Recon title represent critical opportunities for the publisher to deliver strong releases and rebuild momentum.

Whether the remake can capture the same magic as the original while addressing modern expectations for open-world games will be a key test. If it launches smoothly in the targeted summer window, it could provide a much-needed boost for Ubisoft heading into the second half of 2026.

For now, fans will have to wait until next week for the first official look. If the April 16 date holds, we should see a trailer showcasing updated visuals, gameplay improvements, and confirmation of the release window.

The prospect of returning to the golden age of piracy with Edward Kenway is exciting for many. After more than a decade, sailing the high seas in a refreshed Black Flag could be one of the most anticipated Assassin’s Creed experiences in years.
