While this may not be surprising news, as Assassin's Creed has had titles released for the franchise every year since Assassin's Creed II was released in 2009, it has been officially confirmed by Ubisoft that there will be a new Assassin's Creed game for 2012.
The announcement came during Ubisoft's 2012 first-half financial earnings call yesterday:
"I have the pleasure to announce today that there will be another full-fledged Assassin's Creed title next year. It will be another major release, and we will be communicating more about it in the coming months," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
The confirmation of the new title comes within a week of the release of
Assassin's Creed Revelations, which will resolve the story of Ezio, who was first introduced in Assassin's Creed II. In Assassin's Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.
Assassin's Creed Revelations is rated Mature and will hit retailers November 15, 2011 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
