The recently discovered Tom Clancy's The Division 2 Easter Egg has sparked many heated discussions among players all around the world, as it was strongly suggesting that next year's Assassin's Creed would be set at some point during the so-called Viking Age. According to Kotaku's Jason Schreier, the reporter who revealed first details on Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, Origins, and Odyssey before Ubisoft even officially announced those games, 2020's entry will indeed be centered around Vikings.

"A few months before this teaser emerged, Kotaku learned from two independent sources familiar with the game that 2020's Assassin’s Creed, code-named Kingdom, does indeed star Vikings," Schreier revealed. As a reminder, the aforementioned Division 2 teaser featured a lone traveler holding the Apple of Eden, a pivotal piece of technology left by ancient gods in the Assassin’s Creed universe.

In a survey from 2017, Ubisoft asked fans about the possibility of making AC games focused on "the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta in Classical Greece," "the violent conflicts of the Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China," and "Viking invasions and their great army," among many others, so the rumored direction of 2020's AC would definitely line up with Ubisoft's established ideas.

Remember that until anything is officially announced, consider everything reported on this subject nothing more than a rumor. Be sure to take a closer at the Easter Egg and the works of Michele Nucera, a concept artist at Ubisoft Milan who worked on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, down below:
