Assassin's Creed Origins' developers admitted that they were inspired by the games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Dark Souls to refresh the proven formula. Ubisoft took a two-year break to redefine the older game's mechanics and according to the critics and gamers alike, they used the opportunity well. 

Major changes have occurred in the game's fighting system as it no longer relies on counter-attacks and now looks similar to what we're familiar with in the From Software series. The Witcher 3 inspirations can be seen in the brand new crafting and progression system and overall "RPG" feel of the game. Ubisoft also updated the stealth and exploration gameplay.
