While Visceral Games'
Dante's Inferno wasn't a spectacular success (both in terms of critical reception and actual sales numbers), its fanbase still remembers fondly this intriguing take on Dante Alighieri's
Divine Comedy. One of those fans, animator Tal Peleg, released yesterday the first act of his short
Dante's Redemption that focuses on Dante's horrifying journey through the lowest circles of hell.
"
Over four years of blood, sweat and tears have made the impossible possible since the original Dante's Redemption short. I'm so proud to share #DantesRedemptionACT1 with the world . Hope you enjoy it!," Peleg wrote on Twitter. The artist currently works at BioWare (probably animating those sweet, sweet Javelin suits for
Anthem), who also blessed us with the famous
Joel - Banderas gif.
Just like the base game,
Dante’s Redemption is not a kid-friendly production and you definitely shouldn't watch it at work (the video does feature some "adult" content). If you’ve got a spare 6 minutes, I'd recommend checking out this incredibly well-directed short film (with wonderful visuals) that proves that games can be successfully adapted. Take a look at
Dante's Redemption below:
You are Dante, a veteran of the Crusades who must chase his beloved Beatrice and try to free her soul from Lucifer's grasp. As your pursuit takes you deeper into the pits of Hell, you must battle ever more fierce and hideous monsters-while also facing your own sins, a dark family past, and your unforgivable war crimes. Go to Hell.
Dante's Inferno was released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable in February 2010.
