Google Has Stopped Selling Its VR Headset Holder DAYDREAM
The virtual reality developed by Google, Daydream, has been announced as discontinued. The company will stop developing and selling these virtual reality platforms. Here is more from the tech giant.
Technology giant Google has announced the discontinuation of its virtual reality platform Daydream. According to Variety, the company announced this production halt the same time it announced its new Pixel 4 phone.
However, customers that are currently using the Daydream viewer will still be able to use the Daydream app and store. “There hasn’t been the broad consumer or developer adoption we had hoped, and we’ve seen decreasing usage over time of the Daydream View headset. So while we are no longer selling Daydream View or supporting Daydream on Pixel 4, the Daydream app and store will remain available for existing users.”
The Daydream virtual reality platform was released on November 10, 2016 and has two different generations or versions. The first generation Daydream View and the second generation Daydream View. Daydream was the second VR platform developed by Google. Google Cardboard was the first platform the company made in an effort to attract more customers.
According to Variety, Google is investing more resources in its AR experience. Some of these include the Google Lens which are objects that help users analyse objects by just looking at them. The project has been running for 2 years since it October 4, 2017 launch. Were you a user of this Daydream tech? Let us know in the comments.
