Rumours about Capcom working on a brand-new entry in the Resident Evil series have been doingthe rounds for quite a hile now; official information from Capcom, howeverm has not been revealed as of yet — which is to be expected, considering that Resident Evil 3 was just released in April.
The latest bit of information about the game comes from Resident Evil insider @AestheticGamer1, who has revealed that Resident Evil 8 will be featuring three playable characters instead of the traditional two — which, if the information is true, would be a first for the survival horror series.
According to the source, the yet-to-be-announced Resident Evil 8 would include Resident Evil 7 main protagonist Ethan Winters as one of those playable characters, and that all three will be different to control; each with their own unique abilities.
The source also claims that players will spend about 50-60% of the game playing Resident Evil 8 as Ethan, while 30-40% would be played as the secondary character, and a mere 10% as the third character, so this would still be Ethan Winters' game — all things considered.
Previously revealed information, also from somewhat reliable sources, suggested that Capcom would be planning on releasing Resident Evil 8 in 2021, and that the game would focus mainly on Chris — which entirely contradicts this new information about the game being played mostly as Ethan Winters.
Again, all of this information must be taken with a pinch of salt, since none of this has been in any way confirmed by Capcom. Resident Evil 8 has not even been revealed to be the official name of the next entry in the series, so we'll have to keep waiting for official information to be shared by the developers.
