Just like the original
Resident Evil 2, the upcoming remake will feature two extended campaigns to provide players with different points of view to the core horror story. The player will have a chance to experience the story from the perspective of Claire Redfield, the younger sister of BSAA operative and former S.T.A.R.S. member Chris Redfield, and Leon Kennedy, a federal agent for the D.S.O.
During your playthrough, you will have a chance to meet many colorful characters. One of them will be Ada Wong, a mysterious heroin that debuted in 1998's
Resident Evil 2 as a spy for Umbrella's rival company who is sent to recover a sample of the deadly G-virus from Umbrella's lab in the zombie-infested Raccoon City. In
RE2, Ada was wearing a special costume including her now-iconic red dress.
Unfortunately,
Resident Evil 2 producer Tsuyoshi Kanda revealed in a PGW 2018 interview with French outlet Biohazard France that Ada won't be fearing the fan-favorite outfit in the upcoming remake as Capcom is aiming to create a more grounded and believable story this time around, which also means that Claire Redfield will don a leather jacket and jeans to respect the image of the biker.
The producer also confirmed that the new
RE2 won't feature any direct links to
Resident Evil: Outbreak, the first entry in the series to feature cooperative gameplay and online multiplayer support, that launched in 2003. As a reminder, the beginning of
Outbreak was set a couple of days after the initial outbreak of the virus in Raccoon City, moments before the crisis further escalated into complete chaos.
The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns, completely re-built from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-poundingly immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.
Resident Evil 2 will return reimagined for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 25, 2019.
