Marvel's Spider-Man has definitely been a massive hit since releasing last month. The game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony has managed to get fantastic reviews and has been deemed by many as one of the best superhero games ever made, not to mention the best
Spider-man game ever.
Insomniac Games' take on the wall-crawler even managed to become the fastest-selling game of 2018 in the UK, outpacing Sony and Santa Monica Studio's fantastic
God of War—which in and of itself is a pretty amazing feat—and further proving that single player games are far from kicking the bucket.
This month,
Marvel's Spider-Man has reached a new milestone as it became the best-selling Western title, to be funded by Sony, in Japan. Insomniac Games' Spider-Man has managed to sell, as of the 30th of September, a staggering 258.716 units, including digital sales, generating over 1.7 billion yen in revenue, and is estimated to sell 400k units by the end of the year.
Marvel's Spider-Man is the first Western title funded by Sony to become the fastest selling game in Japan in 20 years, since the release of
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped all the way back in 1998. This also means that Insomniac Games' Spider-Man managed to beat Santa Monica's
God of War, Naughty Dog's
The Last of Us, and every game in the
Gran Turismo and
Uncharted series, at least in Japan. Hats off to you, Insomniac Games and
Marvel's Spider-Man.
