Marvel's Spider-Man came out a week ago and some dedicated players have gone out of their way and completed the game already.
The game's story is nothing short of references from the comics, nods to other characters that are not even seen in the game, and some very interesting cliffhangers that have left people wondering whether the game will be getting a sequel or not.
Creative Director for
Marvel's Spider-Man, Bryan Intihar, sat down with IGN and sheds some light on the topic. When he was asked whether the game will be getting a sequel at some point, Intihar definitely played coy by saying that they "
wanted to have questions people may talk about and debate what the future could hold", as he says that they have nothing to announce but they want to keep players "
engaged in our Spider-Man universe"
"
That’s why we said right off the bat you’re going to have three drops of DLC. It’s not just activities in the city, this is a full story. You’re going to be able to get a pretty chunky, new experience".
Intihar then goes on to tell us a little bit more about the first DLC that will see the return of Felicia Hardy as Black Cat, who we already found out is back in town by simply playing through the game.
"
You’re going to see some twists and turns you might not expect with Spider-Man and Black Cat. And then that will set up the other two that will be released before the end of the year".
The first of the three DLC Intihar is talking about is called
Marvel's Spider-Man: The Heist and will be coming out on the
23rd of October. The other two DLCs are called
Marvel's Spider-Man: Turf Wars and Marvel's Spider-Man: Silver Lining, each coming out in November and December respectively.
While his answer may have sounded a bit ambiguous, it is very likely that a sequel is currently in the works, but right now they are focusing on the DLC. It is also possible that they don't make another game and release a completely new story, following the main story's events, along the way; keeping the same assets intact and saving themselves a lot of time producing a new game from scratch. One thing is for sure, though, and that is that Insomniac Games will not disappoint.
