MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been revealed to be an expansion of the original MARVEL's Spider-Man that was released in September of 2018 — which, to be quite fair, is something that the announcement trailer didn't make as clear as it should have.
The word "expansion" does seem to have rubbed some people the wrong way, as many are already freaking out over the quality of the game — even when barely any information has been revealed about MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales; at least, in terms of content.
Today MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Creative Director Brian Horton has posted a new entry on the official PlayStation Blog, in which he reveals some essential details about the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive title; particularly one that will give players a better idea of what to expect from this new game.
According to Horton's post, players should expect MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales to be an experience that is more akin to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy — which is as much of a standalone game, as it is an expansion of the critically acclaiemd Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.
"We know a lot of you want to know how big this game is. Our team at Insomniac has been working incredibly hard to bring you a fantastic Miles Morales adventure since we concluded development on Marvel’s Spider-Man," Horton reveals.
"You'll experience a full story arc with Miles, one that's more akin to a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of overall scope. MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an important, heartfelt, emotional and essential experience to expanding the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe."
For those of you wondering, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a pretty self-contained spin-off story that takes around 10 hours to complete, so maybe players should expect the same from MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, although chances are that it can also end up being longer than that.
"As we continued with the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, we knew that Miles’s origin story as a Spider-Man was something that needed its own game. Miles’s multicultural background reflects a more modern, diverse world and we wanted to give players a new story, with new set-pieces, fresh villains, and unique quests across Marvel’s New York City. This had to be a can’t-miss next adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe," Horton then added.
It seems that the develoeprs at Insomniac Games wanted to give Miles his own Spider-Man story, and deliver one that is worthy of the character they have also reimagined in the first MARVEL's Spider-Man. Whatever the case, it means more Spider-Man for fans of the wall-crawler, so this is still a win-win situation.
MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is expected to launch this Holiday exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
