Earlier this month, Sony announced the pre-order bonuses for
Marvel’s Spider-Man. Part of those bonuses includes a Spidey Suit pack containing three suits; however, only one suit - Spider-Punk - was revealed at the time. Well today, Sony announced the second, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
Straight out of
Avengers: Infinity War, which opens in theaters tomorrow, the slick-looking Iron Spider suit will be the second costume you will receive for pre-order
Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 4. Over on the
PlayStation Blog, Insomniac Games community developer James Stevenson shed some light on what it was like bringing this suit from the big screen to the video game.
“Getting the opportunity to work with Marvel Games and Marvel Studios on this was another dream come true on this project. Seeing Spider-Man on the big screen in the MCU with his Iron Spider suit is something we are really excited about, and we knew Spider-Man fans around the world would want the chance to unlock our version of the Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War inspired Iron Spider suit in-game. We were given access to the actual CG asset from the upcoming film (in theaters on April 27th!!) to ensure that it was as true to the suit you’ll see at the cinema as possible.”
A brief trailer today showcases the Iron Spider suit in action.
In
Marvel’s Spider-Man, players have a variety of suits to choose from inspired from all across the character’s lore. There will even be some completely original suits created by Insomniac. The suits are just for looks either, as each will feature a special power that you can use in-game. Insomniac isn’t quite ready to lift the lid on these powers just yet, but did provide quite the hint:
“The Spider-Punk suit lets you rock out with a guitar, doing an AoE attack that’ll knock enemies off their feet. And the Iron Spider has a suit power that… well, you’ll know it when you see it happen in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War,” teased Stevenson.
