It’s been a long time since fans have received a Spider-Man game that was met with widespread acclaim, so fans are hoping Insominiac’s Spider-Man will be a step in the right direction. The trailers and gameplay demos for the game have already garnered a lot of excitement, but many fans are still craving for more information.
Fortunately for those fans, GameInformer has gathered up a lot of details on the game. Among the new information on the game, are new details on some of the gadgets Spidey will be wielding, the other costumes he’ll be sporting, and some of the sidequests that will be available for players.
First up, is one of the Wall-Crawlers gadgets: Tripwire webbing. This piece of tech was already seen in the footage shown at E3, but new details further describe it as something useful in more stealthy situations
The next of the hero’s gadget is his Web Bomb. As the name suggest, this useful webbing explodes and spraying “webs in every direction.” This make the gadget incredibly useful for crowd control.
Finally, the last piece of tech at Peter Parker’s disposal is the Spider-Drone. Once again, this piece of tech does as its name sugges, as it can fly around the environment and fire webbing at a rapid rate. Also, the drone will be able to distract enemies, making it another useful piece of tech for stealth missions.
As for the game’s various costumes, it’s already been revealed that players will be able to get their hands on the Spider-Punk suit, but now it’s been revealed that the Spider-Man Noir suit will also be making an appearance.
The most enticing pieces of information released, however, are those related to six different types of sidequests within the game. The smallest of these types are the minor crimes which will appear throughout the game's environment, something found in previous open world Spider-Man games.
Two types of mission, on the other hand, appear more significant as they involve two major Marvel characters: Taskmaster and Black Cat. Taskmaster apparently has left a variety of tasks around the city for Parker to complete, all while the villain is observing you unseen.
Black Cat, however, is apparently “working on something big” and completing her missions will help the player discover what the theif has planned..
Along with these quests, players will also be able to perform the Oscorp Research Stations missions. These particular missions, follow Peter as he checks in on some research stations for Harry Osborn who is away in Europe. Apparently, “Peter and Harry’s relationship” will be focused on heavily in these trials.
Another sidequest in the game will be Fisk Bases. These will see the Web-Slinger shutdown bases run by the Kingpin by taking on a large group of bad guys.
Finally, there will be a collectibles based sidequest (think the Riddler trophies from the Arkham series) which will have players collect Peter’s old backpacks that reveal the hero’s backstory prior to the events at the start of the game.
