In Spider-Man 2, Kraven the Hunter comes to New York City searching for his final "Great Hunt." Before setting his sights on the Big Apple's Spider-Men, he starts taking down the city's villains, brutally killing the likes of Scorpion, The Vulture, and Shocker.
However, another of his victims has been revealed thanks to a newly discovered glitch that allows players to visit Kraven's trophy room.
As you can see in the video below, four heads are displayed on the wall there (yes, Kraven killed these guys and then decided to stuff and mount them), including a villain who doesn't appear in Spider-Man 2: Rhino!
As the Redditor who discovered this workaround explains, "I was trying out some glitches that worked on Miles Morales and found out that one of the out-of-bounds bugs still worked. I started exploring the underground world and found a strange structure that at first I couldn't get in but, after a while, I found a way in and went forward until [I found] a pipe with an invisible wall."
"Using the photo mode and the little hole underneath the pipe," they add, "I got the camera to bypass the invisible wall and entered a secret room that never appeared anywhere in the game with a throne supposedly from Kraven and trophies of the heads of the villains that were killed and even a Rhino head."
This trophy room isn't meant to be accessible to players in the finished version of the game, hence why the visuals are a little rough around the edges. Is it meant for a future spin-off or DLC, or was it simply an idea Insomniac decided to cut? We'll have to wait and see.
For now, though, Rhino is still alive as far as we're aware because Spider-Man 2 never reveals his status one way or the other (he last menaced New York in Spider-Man: Miles Morales). Still, you have to give Kraven props for not only taking Alexei Sytsevich down but removing his head as well...
"Spider-Men Peter Parker and Miles Morales face the ultimate test of strength inside and outside the mask as they fight to save the city, each other, and the ones they love," reads the game's synopsis, "from the monstrous Venom and the dangerous new symbiote threat."
"Explore an expansive Marvel's New York with faster web-swinging and the all-new Web Wings, quickly switching between Peter and Miles to experience different stories, epic new abilities and high-tech gear."
"Wield Peter's symbiote abilities and Miles' explosive bio-electric powers in battle against new and iconic Marvel Super Villains," it continues, "including an original take on a symbiote-infused Venom, the ruthless Kraven the Hunter, the volatile Lizard, and more from the Marvel Rogues' Gallery."
Spider-Man 2 is now available to buy worldwide.
