When
Dragon Ball Project Z was announced in January of last year, fans of Akira Toriyama's long-running
Dragon Ball series were immediately curious about what this mysterious new project would be in terms of gameplay and story.
After Arc System Works' take on
Dragon Ball fighting games with the critically praised
Dragon Ball FighterZ, CyberConnect2 had some big shoes to fill; even if the game was never meant to be a fighting game per se.
Now that we are only a mere month away from the release of
Dragon Ball Project Z, which has been officially renamed to
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 keep giving fans even more reasons to get excited over this upcoming action-adventure title that even features RPG elements.
Everytime the developers share new information about
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, fans get excited, and this time Bandai Namco has decided to play the nostalgia card — albeit gracefully, mind you — by releasing the game's phenomenal opening cinematic.
What's even more interesting is that the cinematic features Hironobu Kageyama's classic Cha-La Head-Cha-La opening theme from
Dragon Ball Z prior to the Buu saga, and due to copyright issues that involve Kenji Yamamoto's collaboration with Kageyama, music featuring Kageyama's hasn't been used in
Dragon Ball games for quite a while now.
It is definitely nice to see the developers bringing back Kageyama's music for
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but don't take my word for it and be sure to check the opening cinematic down below, and let us know what you think.
