Before Ubisoft officially announced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, information about the game had already been leaked online. Interestingly enough, the game was initially revealed to release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, but the official announcement revealed that this wasn't the case.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has actually been announced for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, which is odd considering that Ubisoft and Nintendo have a pretty great relationship, and it is unusual to see Ubisoft skipping Nintendo.
It appears that a Nintendo Switch version of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is still on the table, as the game has recently popped up on Portuguese retailer GamingReplay — who reveal that the game will be releasing for Nintendo's handheld hybrid console on Thursday the 21st of January, 2021; the same date the game releases on other platforms. Shout outs to the people over at GoNintendo for pointing us in the right direction.
While listings like these don't always confirm that a game is coming to specific platforms, or even confirm that these games are real, this one is particularly more believable, as GamingReplay also give us our first look at what seems to be an official version of the game's box.
What's even more fascinating is that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the Nintendo Switch s actually available for pre-orders on GamingReplay right now. The listing has yet to be taken down, but this does look like pretty good news for Nintendo Switch owners. We'll just have to wait for Ubisoft to make it official; or flat out deny it, of course.
Embark on a journey as the Prince to prevent the powerful Sands of Time from falling into the hands of the treacherous Vizier. Master the Sands of Time and use your dagger to control time itself. Fight cursed enemies and solve puzzles along the way.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Thursday the 21st of January, 2021.
