NEW YORK – August 18, 2011 – What do you get when you put 23 animated Nickelodeon Nicktoons into a clubhouse and try to choose the starting lineup for "The Showdown," an all-star game featuring the Nicktoons against top players from all 30 MLB® clubs? You get out of town, if you're smart. Or, if you're 2K Play, you slip in your earplugs and put the decision to a fans-at-home vote. Concerns about hanging chads and butterfly ballots will be minimized by the creation of an online voting website, 2KPlayBall.com.
Adding to the action, fans will also vote for the MLB team from a roster of 66 greats consisting of players from both the National and American League like Justin Upton (Arizona Diamondbacks), Kevin Youkilis (Boston Red Sox), Curtis Granderson (New York Yankees), Andrew McCutchen (Pittsburgh Pirates), Felix Hernandez (Seattle Mariners) and Michael Young (Texas Rangers), resulting in what can only be called an "Uber Squad" of MLB stars.
But voting on The Showdown location may be the biggest factor in the final outcome. Will sub zero temperatures at Frosty Freeze Field stop heaters in their tracks? Will the short porch at Fenway Park play to the team with the most lefties in the lineup?
“The stands are going to be packed for this one,” said Perch Perkins, news anchorman for the Bikini Bottom News and lead commentator for the Nicktoons MLB Showdown. “I anticipate this game being a slugfest
