Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is Koji Igarashi's second game in his new
Castlevania-inspired series called
Bloodstained, which saw its first game(
Curse of the Moon) being released in May of last year.
Unlike
Curse of the Moon, which is another
Castlevania-inspired game(a genre that Igarashi appropriately named "Igavania") in classic 8-Bit style,
Ritual of the Night borrows more from
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night than it does from the original NES
Castlevania.
Both
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter projects began development at the same time but
Ritual of the Night has experienced a few delays since the Kickstarter campaign was first pitched back in 2015.
Koji Igarashi and developer 505 Games have reassured that
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night would definitely be releasing in 2019 and, during yesterday's Nintendo Direct, the game was finally given an official release window — which is expected to launch in summer of 2019.
The new trailer for
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night shows off some gameplay of Miriam fighting some monsters, crafting some items, and exploring the massive world players can expect to find in this long-awaited "Igavania" title.
Take a look:
Play as Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist's curse that slowly crystallizes her body. Battle through a demon-infested castle and defeat its master to save yourself, and all of humanity.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam in summer of 2019.
