The Transformers franchise has been around, in the west, since 1984. The series has spawned countless cartoons, seven films (and more on the way), toy lines, comic books, and multitudes of video games. The Transformers video game series has always had its fair share of ups and downs but has never stopped trying to innovate.
The most recent console game release was Transformers Devastation. The game was a relative hit among fans, acting as a cell-shaded love letter to fans of the original series. Since then, the only other release has been the Transformers: Forged to Fight mobile fighting game. The mobile game is still in service and has also had moderate success.
With no new console releases that have come out in more than a few years, the time was right for a new game to hit the market. As Transformers has slowly been making its way back into the wider public eye, a brand new game has recently been announced for the current generation of consoles.
Transformers: Battlegrounds is the newest title for the franchise and appears to take a brand new gameplay approach. With the latest teaser that has released, it can be inferred that the latest game seems to be taking a top-down combat strategy approach, as viewers see a city in chaos as the Autobots and Decepticons battle for supremacy.
While not much has been released yet, there has been a fall release date set. Don't forget to check out the brand new teaser and make sure to share your thoughts on the game and footage in the comments!
