Call of Cthulhu is a role-playing videogame coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, that focuses heavily on narrative. The game is developed by Cyanide Studio and is inspired by Chaosium's pen and paper role-playing game Call of Cthulhu from 1981—which drew inspiration from H.P.Lovecraft's short story Call of Cthulhu published in the late 1920s.

The Call of Cthulhu videogame was just announced during this E3 and released a mysterious and unsettling trailer. In the game, players take control of private investigator Edward Pierce who is sent to investigate an imposing mansion and uncover the secrets of a tragic death in the Hawkins family. The story takes place in 1924, where Pierce is plunged into a world full of secrets, cultists, and cosmic horrors.

The game also seems to focus heavily on the character's mental sanity, which makes for an interesting psychological horror that will have players on the edge of their seats—where they'll see Edward Pierce's mind suffering as his sanity is put to a test. The trailer captures that sense of dread and mystery perfectly, especially given the unsettling 1920s Boston atmosphere—which sure looks like a game that players will look forward to playing.

Uncover the chilling mysteries of this Narrative RPG game, descending deep into a world of cosmic horrors, creeping madness, and shrouded Old Gods within Lovecraft’s iconic universe.

Call of Cthulhu is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this 2018.
