This year has seen quite a bunch of video game-related events being cancelled on account of Coronavirus COVID-19 concerns, and this year's E3 — the biggest video game event of the year — was not the exception; a wise decision, as things aren't looking up right now.
While this year's E3 event may have been cancelled, this doesn't mean that there won't be any video game announcements at all — as the Entertainment Software Association, or ESA for short, has revealed that they have been trying to find other ways to keep the spirit of the event alive.
The ESA has recently announced that next year's E3 is still a go, and that the event has already been given an official date; taking place in from the 15th of June until the 17th, 2021.
Some people believe that the ESA will eventually decide to stream a presentation in the same vein of Nintendo's Direct presentations, but they have yet to confirm this. The fact that they have already decided to actually host an event next year confirms, however, that they have no intention to make this event a digital one in the near future.
Most players seem to agree that digital presentations are the way to go, and that the whole E3 event is rather unnecessary. Regardless, it seems that the ESA don't see it that way, and have no plans to change things up any time soon.
