Back in February, Platinum Games announced that they were working on a brand-new intellectual property, which would be releasing on the 30th of August as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, called Astral Chain. The game will allow players to control the game's main protagonist, as well as some sentient living weapons called Legions.

Perhaps one of the things that got fans excited for the announcement, other than this being a Platinum Games title, was the fact that Hideki Kamiya — Director for Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta — was closely overseeing the project; not to mention that NieR: Automata's Designer Takahisa Taura is now taking the role of Astral Chain's Director.

Given that the game is only a few months away from releasing, and considering that the E3 is the perfect opportunity to show off the game, Platinum Games has released a new gameplay trailer for Astral Chain — which gives us a better idea of how similar this game will be to Platinum Games' Bayonetta series; at least in terms of its hack and slash nature.

Check it out:

Astral Chain is a new action game from PlatinumGames, the creators of the Bayonetta™ series. As part of a police special forces unit in a multi-cultural futuristic city, players work together with a humanoid special weapon, Legion, in a synergetic action system of battle and exploration.

Astral Chain will be available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 30th of August.
