Quite unexpectedly, Capcom has announced that the next big Monster Hunter: World update will drop in two days, on April 19. The expansion will introduce a brand new quest mode called Siege which will basically serve as the game's equivalent of a multiplayer raid. The DLC will also give players a chance to battle the majestic Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth which was first sighted by the First Fleet 40 years ago.
Siege is a new limited-time quest type which requires the collaborative efforts of all hunters in the same Gathering Hub (which can house up to 16 hunters). Each hunting party will split off into groups of up to 4 hunters each, but will be working together to investigate and hunt down the same Kulve Taroth. The new quest type is designed and balanced for multiplayer, so call up your friends, or join up a dedicated lobby, and make sure to coordinate with other hunters if you want to earn the best rewards.
The first instance of Siege will start on April 18 at 5pm PT / April 19 at 1am BST, along with the second free content update, and will be live only for a limited time. It will return at a later date, but details are very scarce at the moment, so assemble your Squad to take full advantage of this golden opportunity. It looks like Capcom is trying to mimic Ubisoft's strategy of revitalizing old series and will support its best-selling game in the history for many, many years.
