Fans first learned a live-action Monster Hunter movie was being developed in 2016, but it wasn't until this year - and the release of Capcom's Monster Hunter World - that we really began to hear some big news about the project.

Specifically, we heard some pretty big stars had joined the cast, including Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) and T.I. Harris (Ant-Man). Now, it's been revealed that the international martial arts star, Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak), has signed on to portray a character currently referred to as The Hunter.

Very little is known about Jaa's character beyond his name, but he is suspected to be the movie's male lead, while Jovovich will play the female lead Artemis.

Monster Hunter will be directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and is set to begin shooting this October in South Africa, so we can expect to learn more about the film as production continues.
