This week marked the arrival of Conan the Barbarian in Mortal Kombat 1. The latest DLC fighter is now playable in early access for any Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Expansion owners. He will be widely available for purchase for anyone on January 28th.
With Conan's arrival NetherRealm has shared the official gameplay trailer, showcasing his crushing abilities and devastating moveset. Conan's combat is built around his Atlantean Sword.
"The master blade-wielder can perform complex maneuvers with the imposing steel weapon, including his intricate sword spinning and signature overhead chop to take down opponents with brute force," NetherRealm teases. That brute force is on full display in the gameplay trailer above, especially as we get a glimpse at one of Conan's Fatality moves.
Watch to the very end and you'll also see his Animality, a fan-favorite finishing move that returned to the game as part of a free update. Conan's Animality turns him into a powerful bull as he charges into his defeated enemy.
"Born on a battlefield, Conan has become one of the most formidable warriors the world has ever seen through relentless toil and kombat," Conan's character bio reads. "Sold into slavery after his parents are slain and village destroyed by the malevolent warlord Thulsa Doom, he is eventually freed by his master and embarks on a quest for vengeance, his journey culminating in the defeat of Doom, liberating thousands from his sorcerous grip. In Mortal Kombat 1, Conan stands ready to defend Earthrealm against the vile beings that mean to conquer it."
With the arrival of Conan in Mortal Kombat 1, there is now one final DLC character slated to be released. The T-1000 from the Terminator franchise is the sixth and final character included with the Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns. His release date has not yet been announced, but series creator Ed Boon did share a teaser video of him.
In a series of posts, Boon also praised the success of Mortal Kombat 1, which has now sold over five million games. He celebrated the fact that it remains the top 15 most-played PlayStation 5 games. This success could lead to even more DLC, although nothing official has been announced. The tweet could've simply been referring to the T-1000 featured in the accompanying video, although many took it to mean that more fighters and content could be added.
Given the game's success, Mortal Kombat figures to be a main focus of Warner Bros. Games moving forward. But whether that translates into more DLC or another full-fledged title remains to be seen. Do you want more DLC or would you prefer a new game entirely?
