With Ermac set to join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster next week, Warner Bros. Games has released a new trailer highlighting the upcoming DLC character.

The new trailer specifically focuses on Ermac's gameplay, highlighting his devastating moveset -- including his ability to teleport, levitate, and utilize a legion of souls to grab, lift, and slam his opponents to the ground.

In addition to his gameplay, the new trailer also provides a look at Ermac's updated character design. Initially revealed last year, Ermac was criticized for a simplistic design with not much detail. The updated version we see in the trailer below has been much improved.

Detailing the new character's backstory, WB Games writes:

Ermac is a collection of souls bound together by Quan Chi’s dark magic that are intended to function as a group mind. But that spell is temporarily undone when Ermac is defeated by Mileena and the mind of King Jerrod, deceased ruler of Outworld and one of the souls in Ermac’s collection, takes control and rejoins the royal family, aiding Empress Mileena’s reign. Eventually, the amalgam of souls reestablishes control, and Ermac retreats to Outworld's shadows. No longer Quan Chi's slave, nor bound to the royal family, he must find a future worth fighting for.

Ermac will join the main roster on April 16 as part of the early access period for those who own the Kombat Pack, with a full release scheduled for April 23.

Ermac is the fourth of six DLC characters to be released through the Kombat Pack. Omni-Man, Quan Chi, and Peacemaker have already been released. Homelander and Takeda are still set to join the roster at a future date.

The Kombat Pack also includes five DLC Kameo Fighters, one of which is also featured in the trailer above. We get our first look at Mavado, who provides a range of support moves. Mavado will be available as a standalone purchase in May 2024.

The Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat pack is included in the Premium Edition of the game which normally retails for $109.99. However, multiple storefronts currently have this version of the game available at a discount right now.

If you already own the base game, you can purchase the Kombat Pack separately. Again, this is normally $39.99, but you can find it on sale as well. Alternatively, you could also purchase Ermac separately on his own. Standalone DLC characters typically cost $7.99.

Introducing a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe with iconic heroes and villains reimagined as they’ve never been seen before, the game features a wide-ranging cast of legendary fighters with all-new backstories, including Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Smoke, Rain, Li Mei, Tanya, Baraka, Geras, Reptile, Ashrah, Havik, General Shao, Sindel, Nitara, and Reiko, along with a separate roster of Kameo Fighters who can assist during matches.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
