Prior to announcing the Best Sports/Racing game at The Game Awards 2018, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon had a treat for fans -
Mortal Kombat 11.
The long-rumored title was officially unveiled with a teaser trailer that showcased the next evolution of the iconic fighting franchise. While it may not be actual gameplay footage, the violent fight between Raiden and Scorpion sets a pretty brutal tone for
Mortal Kombat 11, which will feature a new graphics engine that showcases "every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment."
While we'll have to wait until January 17, 2019, for the global community event, NetherRealm did share a few details alongside the trailer. For starters, the game will feature all-new Custom Character Variations that "give you unprecedented control to customize the fighters and make them your own." Additionally,
Mortal Kombat 11 will boast a
roster comprised of both new and returning Klassic Fighters as well as the return of a cinematic story mode.
Mortal Kombat 11 is set to launch globally on April 23. Pre-ordering (which opens tomorrow) will get you Shao Kahn and access to the beta.
