Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios announced yesterday that Mortal Kombat has officially gone gold on the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Mortal Kombat is the most brutal installment of the legendary fighting game to date. The game is scheduled to hit retailers on April 19 and is currently available for pre-order at all major retailers across North America.

In addition to the confirmed release date, NetherRealm and Warner Bros. released a few screenshots featuring Johnny Cate:
