Since the film was announced a couple of years ago, fans have been waiting for any coverage about the film reboot of Mortal Kombat. With an awesome cast that includes Ludi Lin (Power Rangers), Lewis Tan (Deadpool 2), and Jennifer McNamee (The Meg), to name a few, the people behind the film look to be attempting to give fans the most accurate and fun Mortal Kombat film experience ever.
Overall there have only really been behind the scenes photos of stunt work or the cast in between takes but not much in the way of marketing for the movie. A Lot of that is due in part to the recent spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still leaving lasting repercussions on the entertainment industry.
With films like Mortal Kombat, fans are beginning to ask about when some footage will come, and sadly, it looks like the wait is still a ways away. According to a reply to a tweet about when we could see some footage, producer Todd Garner confirmed that until theaters reopen, we won't know when the release date for the film will be or even the first trailer! The pandemic hit hard, and for all of those hardworking people that are trying to make this and other films a reality, it's not a matter of if it will release, but when.
There are still hopes that theaters will begin opening to a wider audience sooner rather than later, but until such a time, it is a waiting game. We would love to hear your thoughts on the news found in the tweet in the comments below!
Mortal Kombat is coming to theaters soon!
