Those of you disappointed with last week's
announcement that Alien: Blackout will be a mobile game, will be excited to know that FoxNext Games is also planning to release another game set in the
Alien cinematic universe on consoles and PC.
Tucked at the bottom of the
Alien: Blackout press release was a brief mention of the second game, which is being developed by FoxNext Games' studio Cold Iron Studios.
"FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC," the announcement reads.
Although this may come as a surprise to some of you, this actually isn't the first we heard of Cold Iron's
Alien game. The original announcement came in January when
FoxNext first acquired Cold Iron Studios.
“Cold Iron Studios has amazing design, craftsmanship and development talent that we are excited to welcome at FoxNext Games as we pursue our goal to build a multi-platform, multi-genre portfolio of great games,” FoxNext Games President of Studios Aaron Loeb said at the time. “I am a personal fan of Cold Iron’s previous work and all of us at FoxNext Games are thrilled to be working with them as they create an action-packed persistent world, steeped in the mysteries of this beloved Alien universe.”
Cold Iron Studios is comprised of industry veterans who have worked on various high-profile titles including Neverwinter, Metroid Prime 3, BioShock Infinite, and City of Heroes. We'll hopefully learn more about their Alien game in the coming weeks or months.
