Thanks to PC Gamer, we have official word from developer EA on the possibility of rental servers in the first-person shooter Battlefield 5. The game has been out for two months and custom or rental servers are still not available and EA had no word on it until now.

Rental servers let players create their own match and control map rotations, game modes and customizable game settings. EA has control over these servers and did state before the game launched that servers would not be available. However, fans were hopeful, the past Battlefield games launched without those servers too but got them eventually.

Now, a reddit post by Dan Mitre, a Battlefield global community manager, says "you haven't seen an update in our direction with RSP [Rental Server Program] because we haven't made a full decision internally whether or not we can deliver it."

According to Mitre, rental servers for Battlefield 5 are not "off the table" but there is still no word when they will be available. Whenever the company decides on rental servers, it will make an official statement. We will let you know the latest on the servers.
