The first Battlefield 6 Open Beta weekend is almost upon us. While the Open Beta officially begins on August 9th, an early access period will run on August 7th and 8th.

For those who plan on playing, you can get a head stead by pre-loading the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC today, August 4th, starting at 15:00 UTC (8AM PT / 11AM ET). For those playing on console, you'll find the beta through the game store page. On PC, you'll want to first make sure you computer meets the minimum or recommended open beta PC specs. Surprisingly, the requirements are not that bad.

Considering how great the early footage from Battlefield 6 gameplay has looked, the actual PC specs are fairly reasonable. Now it's worth noting that these specs are for the beta, so it's possible they could change between now and launch in October, but it shouldn't be anything too drastically different. If anything, optimizations between now and launch should make it even more accessible.

Minimum and Recommended PC specifications for Open Beta

In addition to these specifications, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta will require that you enable Secure Boot. This is a Windows 10 and Windows 11 security feature that ensures your PC only loads safe software during startup.

"Secure Boot allows games supported by EA Javelin Anticheat to detect and remove bad actors, resulting in fewer cheaters and a better experience for players," EA explains. "Our Anticheat system, EA Javelin Anticheat, has unique modifications designed to safeguard against cheats and hacks specific to the FPS space. Javelin has been built from the ground up by a team of veteran engineers and analysts focused on studying cheating problems for each specific game under EA’s umbrella and designing unique features to solve those issues."

In order to play early access, you'll need to have received a key, either by having signed up for Battlefield Labs before July 31st or by watching select creators during the reveal streams through Twitch on July 31. When redeeming the key, you'll see a notification that states ""Base Game required." You don't actually need the full game, just the beta client.

EA will be hosting two Open Beta weekends for Battlefield 6 before its release on October 10th. Weekend 1 runs from August 9th through August 11th, while Weekend 2 runs from August 14th through August 17th. After early access, anyone is able to download and join in the beta.
