Earlier today, DICE revealed some of
the new features and modes coming to Battlefield V with the Chapter 1: Overture update. The highlight video came with every intention of the update arriving tomorrow, December 4; however, it wasn't long after that DICE took to social media again to announce that the update has been delayed.
Without getting too specific, DICE stated that the team "discovered an issue" with the update. Rather than pushing it live anyway and potentially compromising other gameplay systems, DICE has decided to delay the release of Chapter 1: Overture. They didn't give a timeframe as to how long it would take for the issue to be resolved, but they don't anticipate that it'll be a long delay. More information is said to be coming tomorrow, or whenever they have it.
Chapter 1: Overture is just the first part of Tides of War, the live service for
Battlefield V that will "evolve and expand the battlefield." New chapters will be released every couple of months featuring a new narrative that focuses on a specific aspect of that era along with "unique gameplay experiences to drive players forward." As revealed earlier, Overture will introduce a brand new Panzerstorm map, the Practice Range, Vehicle Visual Customization, and the new War Stories episode:
The Last Tiger.
