Speculation has run wild as to what direction Dice will be heading in for the latest entry in the Battlefield franchise. Considering the warm reception Battlefield 1 received with its World War I setting, the gaming community anticipated a return to the World War II arena. This just-released teaser trailer lends credence to that rumor. Check it out below:

Our first look at the game shows the aftermath of a takedown animation as an enemy German soldier finishes off a player. Closer inspection of the footage confirms the WW II setting by examining the enemy combatant's uniform. He wears goggles frequently used by motorbike dispatch riders and paratroopers. Furthermore, the flags at the top of the screen show the German Iron Cross and the British flag thus confirming that the conflict will be between the Axis and Allied forces.

Gameplay elements hinted at include the return of the old Conquest Ticket System and Squad Spawning. In addition, the health bar has been moved to the center of the screen. This showcases the very minimalist look of the HUD.

Battlefield V is expected to arrive in October 2018 on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
