Activision has begun teasing this year's Call of Duty, which has officially been confirmed to be Modern Warfare 2. While this wasn't necessarily a secret, the reveal of the game's logo makes it all the more official.
Prior to the announcement this week, Infinity Ward had referred to this year's game as a sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare, which was a reboot of the beloved sub-series. This year's game will seemingly continue the story.
Earlier this week, Infinity Ward took to Twitter to share the logo for Modern Warfare 2.
Shortly afterward, the official Call of Duty account shared a brief teaser video. And if you look closely and slow it down, you'll see one of the frames teases Modern Warfare's iconic Task Force 141.
In the Modern Warfare timeline, Task Force 141 is a multinational operations unit whose main objective is to apprehend or eliminate Vladimir Makarov, a Russian Ultranationalist responsible for masterminding hte Russian invasion of the United States.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is expected to launch later this year, presumably around the holidays. It's expected that Modern Warfare 2's release will result in a refresh of the Call of Duty: Warzone map as well. We could also see an evolution of Warzone with "groundbreaking innovations," according to Activision.
