Just the other day, a reputable source made claims that a quartet of familiar multiplayer maps will be returning in the next Call of Duty instalment — find out more on that here. Now we've got our first look at "Call of Duty 2020" courtesy of some leaked gameplay footage.
Since this footage first surfaced online, Activision have been doing their darndest to get it taken down. Nonetheless, it can still be found in some places — such as over on /r/CODCompetitive — and, at the very least, many have already been able to see it. If anything, Activision attempting to get it taken down only proves its legitimacy.
The clip is roughly two minutes in length and features a player traversing a barren map. There's a sheer lack of textures and, all in all, the map appears to be in an early state of development. However, sleuths have still been able to ascertain key information from the footage.
For one (and two), there's a minimap in the corner and there aren't any usable doors. The player doesn't make use of a slide or dive throughout the entire clip and they appear to be wielding an MP5 submachine gun. It's rumoured that the next Call of Duty game takes place during the Cold War and is titled as such — Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
