Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has only been out a few days, and Treyarch is already releasing some major multiplayer content. On the game's official social media channels, it was announced that Black Ops 6 will be adding the Infected game mode and the highly anticipated Nuketown map, all this week.
Infected, a multiplayer party mode in which players attempt to survive against player-controlled zombies, is arriving on October 9th. Although it originally debuted as an April Fool's Day joke, Infected has since become a staple in the Call of Duty franchise.
Arriving shortly after Infected will be Nuketown, the fan-favorite multiplayer map. The chaotic map will be available beginning November 1st, as previously announced.
Introduced in 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops, Nuketown has become one of the franchise's most iconic maps. It is based on a 1950s U.S. suburb used to demonstrate the effects of a nuclear weapon on a residential area. The small map is known for its frantic, close-quarters combat.
Treyarch had previously announced that Nuketown would be coming to Black Ops 6 but didn't offer any sort of details. A small teaser video was shared, but it didn't really provide a close enough look to see if it would feature a '90s-themed aesthetic in line with the Gulf War setting of Black Ops 6.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on October 25th with a robust multiplayer offering 16 multiplayer maps, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6. The game also launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, four alternate modes in which Scorestreaks are disabled, and a Hardcore mode variant.
Prior to the game's release, Treyarch and Activision had promised players that additional game modes and maps would be made available on a regular basis post-launch, and it seems they are sticking true to their word.
In addition to new content, Treyarch is hard at work with post-release game updates. The first one arrived over the weekend, increasing XP and weapon XP rates for multiplayer modes Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight. The update also addressed other issues related to loadouts, Operators and more.
