The next instalment in the long-running first-person shooter video game series that is Call of Duty is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. As the name would suggest, it's yet another return to good ol' boots-on-the-ground gameplay — what with taking place in the 1980s during the heat of the Cold War 'n all.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will include a campaign mode, featuring familiar characters such as Frank Woods, as well as a Zombies mode, and online multiplayer mode. The game is set to launch on November 13th, alongside the release of the PlayStation 5 console — though the game will be available on both the current and next-generation of PlayStation and Xbox.
There's less than a month to go until then but if you just can't wait to play the boots-on-the-ground multiplayer; we have some good news for you. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta has now gone open, which is to say that it's now free to play on all platforms — all platforms being the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Simply visit your respective platform's store.
What's more, crossplay is enabled which means you can play with your friends from across the gaming sphere. It's worth keeping in mind that the beta only includes a portion of the multiplayer content that the full game will. That is to say there's a limited amount of maps, mode, weapons, etc. It's simply meant to be a taste of what's to come.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta will be live and open until Monday, October 19th at 10 AM (Pacific Time). So, be sure to make the most of it while you can! Find out more about the beta here.
